About The Event

St Giles Hill Park is a most valued Park in the City of Winchester.  Its story is a fascinating one and in January there is an opportunity to hear about it.

Accomplished researcher, Chartered Horticulturist and Chair of the Friends of St Giles Hill Park, Harry Mycock, has been unearthing the story of St Giles Hill Park and would like to share the progress so far.

In a series of three Zoom meetings in January 2024, Harry will trace the history of this special place from its early origins to the setting for one of Europe's greatest medieval trade fairs, to the creation and development of the present Park, which will mark its 150th anniversary in 2028.

The first event in the series will take place on Tuesday 16 Jan 18.00-19.00 and cover St Giles Hill from the Bronze Age to becoming a Public Recreation Ground in 1878. Please register your interest in joining by clicking the registration button and entering your details.

Subsequent events on Tuesday 23 Jan 18.00-19.00 will cover the Park's early years, and on Tuesday 30 Jan 18.00-19.00 the development of the Park up to the present day (see separate listings for these events).
