Join the Friends of St Giles Hill Park for a memorable summer evening as we watch one of the most spectacular astronomical events visible from the UK this century (or wait until 2090 to see the only other better one this century).

From several points on St Giles Hill, you’ll have an excellent outlook to witness the Moon gradually pass across the face of the Sun. At its peak, over 90% of the Sun will be obscured from Winchester, creating an eerie twilight, a noticeable drop in temperature, and an unforgettable atmosphere, that is best experienced socially.

Bring your family and friends, a picnic or refreshments, and your certified solar eclipse glasses, to enjoy this rare event in one of Winchester’s finest open spaces.
